IUI in Karol Bagh, New Delhi

Dr. Kriti Tiwari — MBBS, MS, FNB Reproductive Medicine — treats patients from Karol Bagh at Mother's Hope IVF Clinic, Katwaria Sarai and SHE Delhi Hospital, Greater Kailash II.

IUI for patients from Karol Bagh

Karol Bagh and Patel Nagar come in along Ring Road, about half an hour outside peak hours.

IUI shortens the distance sperm have to travel and times the attempt precisely. The semen sample is washed in the laboratory to concentrate the most motile sperm, then placed into the uterine cavity through a fine catheter at the point of ovulation. It takes a few minutes and needs no anaesthesia.

It only works when at least one fallopian tube is open and the sperm count is reasonable, which is why we confirm both before recommending it. Done properly it is a genuine option that costs a fraction of IVF, and we would rather you try it first when your reports support it.

Getting here from Karol Bagh: 12 km. Mother's Hope IVF & Maternity Clinic, 124/9 Naraina, Block A, Katwaria Sarai — mon–sat, 2:30 pm – 7:30 pm (and mornings before 11 am). SHE Delhi Hospital, Inder Mohan Bhardwaj Marg, Block E, Greater Kailash II — mon–sat, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.

Who we treat from Karol Bagh

  • Mild male factor with adequate total motile count
  • Unexplained infertility of less than two years in women under 35
  • Cervical factor, or difficulty with intercourse timing
  • Donor sperm treatment, and mild ovulatory disorders

How treatment runs

  1. Tube and sperm assessment

An HSG or laparoscopy confirms at least one open tube, and a semen analysis confirms the count is workable.

  2. Ovulation induction

Tablets or low-dose injections to grow one or two follicles, monitored by scan.

  3. Trigger injection

Given when the lead follicle reaches maturity, timing ovulation to within a few hours.

  4. Insemination

The washed sample is placed in the uterus 36 hours later. You rest for fifteen minutes and go home.

Case study: Three years of trying, and nobody had checked the tubes

29, Hauz Khas · unexplained infertility · no prior workup

What she came in with

Three years of trying, several courses of ovulation-inducing tablets prescribed by a local practitioner, and no scan monitoring at any point. She had never had a tubal assessment, and her husband had never had a semen analysis.

What the workup showed

Regular ovulatory cycles on tracking. HSG showed both tubes patent. Semen analysis showed a total motile count at the lower end of normal. Nothing was badly wrong with either of them — which is a diagnosis, not the absence of one.

What we did

Rather than escalating to IVF, three cycles of letrozole with scan-monitored follicular tracking and timed IUI with a washed, concentrated sample. Endometrial thickness was checked at each cycle.

Outcome

Conception in the second IUI cycle. Total cost was a small fraction of a single IVF attempt.

The point of this case

Tablets prescribed without scan monitoring are guesswork. Once we could see a follicle growing and time the insemination to within a few hours, the odds changed completely.

Illustrative case. This is a composite of presentations commonly seen in this practice, written for explanation — it is not the record of an identifiable patient, and no individual's details are used. Outcomes vary, and nothing here is a prediction of what will happen in your case.

Why Karol Bagh patients come here

Your reports get read before anything is sold to you

Most couples arrive with a folder of tests from elsewhere. We go through it first. In a surprising number of cases the next step is cheaper and simpler than what was recommended before.

One doctor, start to finish

Dr. Tiwari performs your scans, your retrieval and your transfer, and looks after the pregnancy afterwards. You are not handed between juniors at each visit.

Costs in writing, before you commit

An itemised estimate covering drugs, lab charges, anaesthesia and freezing. If a cycle needs to be abandoned mid-way, you are told what that changes financially on the same day.
